Choosing an adapted vehicle is about more than finding the right car.
Adapt & Drive from Mobility in Motion brings together vehicle choice, specialist adaptations and expert support in one process, helping you find a setup that works around your mobility and everyday life.
A COMPLETE SOLUTION
For people living with a disability or reduced mobility, choosing a vehicle can involve more than comparing makes and models.
The car may need to accommodate a wheelchair or mobility scooter, make transfers easier, or be adapted so you can continue driving independently.
Adapt & Drive is designed to make that process more straightforward.
Rather than choosing a vehicle first and working out the adaptations afterwards, we consider you, the vehicle and the adaptations together.
That helps us identify a solution that fits your mobility, your equipment and the way you actually use your car.
YOUR COMPLETE SETUP
Getting seated
Swivel seats, transfer plates and person lifts can make getting into and out of a vehicle easier. The right option will depend on your mobility, how you transfer and the vehicle you choose.
Taking your mobility equipment
Boot hoists and stowage systems can help lift and carry a wheelchair, scooter or powerchair without relying on heavy manual lifting. Vehicle space, equipment dimensions and weight all need to be considered together.
Driving independently
Hand controls, steering aids, pedal modifications and other specialist systems can adapt the vehicle controls around the way you drive. The most suitable setup depends on your movement, strength, driving position and vehicle.
VEHICLE CHOICE
There is no single type of vehicle that works for everyone.
Adapt & Drive provides access to a range of new vehicles, from compact everyday cars to larger family cars, SUVs and MPVs.
The vehicle needs to work for your mobility requirements, but it also still needs to work as a car. That means considering passengers, luggage, comfort, storage, where you drive and how you intend to use it.
Compact and practical vehicles for everyday journeys, where space and ease of use remain important.
More passenger and storage space, with options that can accommodate a wider range of adaptations.
Useful where additional space is needed for larger mobility equipment, more substantial adaptations or family travel.
FROM ASSESSMENT TO HANDOVER
01
Start by telling us about your mobility, the equipment you use and what you would like your vehicle to make easier. You do not need to know which car or adaptation you want before speaking to us.
02
Through a complimentary mobility assessment, our specialists consider suitable vehicles and adaptations together. We look at your requirements, the mobility equipment you use and how different vehicle layouts could work for you.
03
Once you are happy with the proposed vehicle and adaptations, we can provide the detailed costs and talk through the options available to you. Any applicable manufacturer discounts, payment options or potential VAT relief can also be discussed.
04
The agreed adaptations are professionally fitted to the vehicle. Once everything is complete, your adapted vehicle is ready for you to use.
CUSTOMER STORY
When Elizabeth and her husband Ian came to Mobility in Motion, they were looking for an alternative to their wheelchair accessible vehicle.
Ian travelled in the WAV while remaining in his wheelchair. For him, this made journeys difficult and often caused significant nausea.
They wanted to find a way for Ian to travel in a conventional car seat instead.
Following a mobility assessment, they chose a new Nissan X-Trail fitted with a Turny Evo swivel seat and 16-inch Carony system.
The combination made transferring into the vehicle easier and allowed Ian to travel in a car seat rather than remaining in his wheelchair.
They also saved £2,964.16 compared with a comparable used 2025 Nissan X-Trail, meaning their new adapted vehicle with a dealership warranty cost less than the used alternative they had been considering.
“The best bit? My partner has travelled comfortably, safely, with no nausea.”
For Elizabeth and Ian, the answer was not simply a different adaptation. It was finding the right vehicle and adaptation together.
You do not need to choose the car or adaptations before you speak to us.
Tell us about your mobility, the equipment you use and what you want your vehicle to make easier. Our specialists can then help you explore the options.
OWNERSHIP
Adapt & Drive gives you the opportunity to own your adapted vehicle rather than treating the car and adaptations as separate decisions.
You can purchase outright or explore available payment options, depending on the vehicle and your circumstances.
For some people, owning the vehicle provides the longer-term security of knowing that the car and its adaptations have been selected around their requirements from the start.
IS IT RIGHT FOR YOU?
Everyone’s circumstances are different.
The right solution will depend on your mobility, lifestyle, equipment, transfer requirements and financial circumstances.
