CEILING TRACK HOISTS

Fixed-Ceiling Track Hoists

Fixed-ceiling hoists provide supported transfers between beds, chairs, wheelchairs and other areas of the home without taking up valuable floor space. Bush Healthcare supplies and installs bespoke track systems across South Wales, planned around the room, the user and the transfers required.

TRANSFERS AROUND THE HOME

Support built into the room

Unlike a mobile hoist, a ceiling hoist travels along a permanently installed overhead track. This keeps the floor clear and gives the carer more space around the person during transfers.

Tracks can be designed for a simple journey between two points or configured to provide much wider coverage across a room.

Straight Track

A simple fixed route between two transfer points, such as a bed and wheelchair.

H-System

An H-system can provide broader coverage across a room, allowing transfers between several positions rather than along one fixed route.

More Complex Layouts

More complex track layouts can be planned around multiple transfer points, the shape of the room and the route required.

FREEWAY TRANSACTIVE XTRA

A compact hoist built for everyday transfers

The Freeway Transactive Xtra, manufactured by Prism Medical UK, is the main ceiling-track hoist offered by Bush Healthcare. Its low-profile design maximises available lifting height while keeping the unit compact at ceiling level. The system supports users up to 270 kg and provides a lifting range of up to 2 metres, including the ability to raise someone from floor level where the installation allows. Simple Handset Control Smooth, Assisted Movement Emergency Safety Features Sling Compatibility Suitable for Wet Areas Planned Around the Room

Up to 270 kg

A high lifting capacity suitable for a broad range of users.

2 m Lifting Range

Provides substantial vertical travel for transfers between different surfaces and from floor level.

Quiet Start & Stop

Controlled acceleration and deceleration help keep transfers smooth.

Clear Floor Space

The motor and track remain overhead, leaving room around beds, wheelchairs and other equipment.

SURVEY & INSTALLATION

A system built around the room

Ceiling-track hoists require more planning than a standard stairlift because the track layout and fixings are specific to the space. Bush Healthcare manages the process from survey and track planning through to installation, testing and handover.

More complex ceiling-hoist and through-floor installations typically take longer than standard stairlifts, with Bush currently advising around three to five days where structural or bespoke work is required.
